Letter to Alice

Dear Alice:–
At the y. I sat out on the hill side for a half hour tonight and watched two bouts of boys boxing I dident like it. it is the first ring stuff I ever watched, it creates the wrong sperit in boys I will surely try to keep from boxing any more, but the old satan just said to me as I wrote that “there is a cupple of boys I would like to get then on with for a few minuits.” but I will try to keep from doing it. An old man come to my bunk tonight and sat down he wanted to talk about the christian life and he surely feels his need. he told me of the parting words of his parents years ago and how they tried to show him how he should build up his life in the word of God. he mention how little a man realizes what his influence is doing. Griffin is a R.C. but him and I sleep together and sit down out to eat together we wait on each other to walk together and we just talk on every good subject that we can think of. he has been terribly rough, but he can be other wise with one day after day, an’t it strange how men value the true pure clean life. Say sister the only thing worth an effort at all in life is inspirations that come from the purest of thot and heart. I had to go and apologize to McGready sunday night, I did not feel right untill I did and, I am glad a thousand times over that I did. I did it right out in the hut just the same as the we had the row.
Well good night sister as ever your loving brother Laurie
Kiss Francis for me.
