Letter to Home

 July 16

Dear Mother

Just a word before I go to bed, I have been on guard from 7 P.M. Sat. till 7.30 P.M. Sun, weather was fine and work easy lots to eat, and a sossage of a Sergeant. I did not get off intime to go down to meeting at the Y.M.C.A. I have taken up no work in either the Y.M.C.A. Sal.A. because they both have a well organized strength and I live to far out of town, I have got to study harder or I will not even be a good soldier. I only got 3 letters this week you Clive Millie P. so I should get some this week.

You are surely welcome to any thing there is in that shack that you can use at any time I know Teddy can’t keep things clean enough to even put down the rug any way, tell Teddy to write me a letter I want to hear from him he writes suck[sic] good letters, those oats don’t amount to any thing we will raise twice as many on there next year. we can [feet???] threshed oats and feed straw or put up some hay.

I will have to go in it is getting chilly and you never saw a nicer night in your life,

as ever your loving son
Laurie

I got letter.
