Somewhere France
13-5-18

Dear Kate:–  I am waiting a few minuites untill the mulligan battery is ready to feed us, We have been out taking P.T. and first air work this A.M./

22-5-18

Say Sister I have badly neglected writing to you lately but I realize that you hear from me every time Mother does, so it an't so bad.

I am now at about 2 P.M. out on the parade ground, I am guarding the boys equipment they are doing extended order.

There is a bunch of nice big fat horses eating out in front of me, a boy is herding them on foot

The boys are talking so I can't keep my thoughts on my writing

23rd

I am on the same job in the same place at the same time today as yesterday, but no other S.B.'s are with me so I will be able to write a little.

I should have have told you that the boy that was herding was a Hindu they seem fine horse men and are a good size. I wish I could talk there language.

It seemed as tho it would rain when we fell in, but now the sun is coming out,

I suppose you are having good weather now and Otto will buisy finishing his flax and starting breaking or summer fallow.

We have had a good time now for quite awhile, and are ready for any thing that we may bump up against.

I suppose the next twelve months will bring big changes again and hope that it brings the war to a successfull conclusion.

We get the papers each day here so we are in luck all around, we have lots of shade, water, good huts, lots to eat, not to much drill and every one is fat and contented, the boys often say, "they can leave us here untill duration if they like " well that is the way I feel all right, when I can pull all my clothing off three nights out of four, and have my same big blanket to sleep in right along, I surely feel lucky and I don't care who knows I feel that way,
