Letter to Mother from Somewhere in France
Somewhere in France 7-12-17[sic]
Dearest Mother:–
We had a sport day yesterday and and other today. this may sound strange but it wouldent if I could explain.
I spent the P.M. yesterday on the sports ground I ran in one relay race but four co’y got second I think it was fun.
This P.M. I spent out in the shade of the trees reading my little testament and I had a lot of good out of it to. it is just supper time now I will write more after I eat. The time surely goes on the fly and the weather is nice I enjoy every minuit of life. we were just having a little rifle drill this A.M. just enough for exercise I am going around in slacks today it feels good to get out of the putties again
Mother when I think back I can’t seem to be able to beleave that I am the fellow that had the freedom of civilian life it just seems a dream now and I don’t know but I will surely jump if I ever get in civies again I can’t see how I can be so content as I am in army life it is such a different life. Why pretty soon if they would take off all rules we would just follow the old routine any way
