Dear Teddy:–

I just went out down town and bought some chocolate then I came back to the cosey little house, Teddy it is a treat to look at the taste of the upper class French every thing points to the greatest sense of refinement in the way of taste, even in the military there breast ribbons are small and dainty the women are so dainty in dress, the stores from one end to the other shows study to build up a neat appearance, and shining, clean, not a sign of dust from one end to the other. To make a loud effect shows coarse taste and lack of refinement any where you go, you can tell where the boy has been brought up in a tidy home or a slack one,

Next night. Well Ted I have spent up to 8 P.M. in running around and talking to some of the boys, I had quite a chat with Bob Banks over old times he says he gave $100.00 to the Hazenmore church. good for the old boy. All we need is forty boys like that and it will be paid for.

I paid out $2.80 tonight for a flash light and a pair of cisors to compleat my first aid kit, I am a full fledged S. B’r today, I hope I prove to have the right abilities on the battle field, I have had quite a good coarse they gave me a complete pannier today, I don’t mind spending the money when there is a chance that it will help to save life or may help to give some boy a little comfort. Well Ted it an’t but 8.30 but I try to get to bed by 9 each night and I get up sometimes at 5.30 others they let us sleep untill 6 o.c.

Well bye bye old boy as ever your loving brother Laurie
