Yesterday after my class I took a trip down town and just strolled around, then after supper I went out and got lost I walked about 2 hours 20 minuites straight along before I was home again. I could have asked my way any minuite but was interested in what I saw all the time so I kept going. at last I had to ask to get right

Well Mother I spent the p.m. yesterday and evening at Emanuel Church, we had a fine tea and then I stayed to the evening service I can't say if I like the Rev Anderson or not he is Irish so I suppose I should.
I was just down to the public baths and had one of the nicest baths that I have ever had in Eng. free to all soldiers and sailors, (sea water)
I got a letter from Gertrude Forbs yesterday she said they had finished plowing for this fall.
I saw another S.B. of B. Co'y. 46th yesterday he is in hosp. near here, he was wounded on Nov 1st. and told me about Albert Brown being killed, he used to be in my coy. of the one two eight batt. so I knew him well, were were great friends, he was wounded at Paschendale last november on a work party I beleave, then he was killed the first trip in on his return to France. He married the girl his brother had been engaged to before he went out to France and was killed away back about Xmas of 16. The brother was killed about the beginning of the war. I hope I will here no more bad news about the war. but there is a lot of boys I have heard nothing of as yet-

Well Mother it is evening again, I am sitting on the side of my bed. my old candle is doing its best to light up the room. a bunch of boys are playing cards I hear there money rattling on the table, they were paid a pound today so they have to get rid of it right away and stay broke 90% of the time. My some men make a funny choice of life it seems.
There was a sailing today of khakie boys from the depots, so we may get away any week now. I would be tickled if things happened so I would get home by Xmas but any time will do I am surely glad my turn is coming soon at the worst, I am spending the time well I read a lot and that seems the only beneficial way I can spend the time out side of my daily class.
I had agreed to meet a boy at 10 A.M. in the recreation room today, well I spent the entire A.M. reading and at noon in the dinner line up I thought of my promise I will surely be there tomorrow the boy may be there again.
This is till german ink I have never filled my pen since in France on the Amiens trip.

A boy I have met here is taking me to meet his girl freinds freind. I hope she is nice, not to nice you know or I would wish I had met her sooner, but just fairly good company and thoroughly deasent, if she is not our acquantence will not last long. she is a clerk in the C.P.O.S. office. they have given several entertainments for the soldiers since I have been here,
I got paid an other pound yesterday at 1,30 P,M,
