Dear Mother:–

It is about 4 P.M. again and have spent the most of the day reading. I sent a letter to you yesterday.

I can go to the windows on either side and see nothing but the tops of houses of different kinds stretching on for miles. I start tomorrow to go down to the mess room to eat, it won't be long untill I will be going down town to pass away the P.M.'s like a lot of the boys do now, of coarse there are boys coming and going all the time.

11th

Well Mother it 1.40 again and I was lying on my cot or single bed thinking about this summer out in France the one place where we from about May 15th to July 15th we slept on the floor of old huts with our over coats and oil sheet. Lined up for our meals about 125 of us in a line three times a day. Well it is all right as long as you can hang on to your patience, but if I don't have to do any more of it why nobody will be able to hold me the day they tell me that. I won't even ask the Doctor for if I am going to make Canada why that suits me just when ever they chose if not why I am in no hurry for any change of knowledg. I have my own ideas you folks will quickly form yours,

Dear Mother:–

I wrote Annie a letter yesterday and one to Mrs Deason.

I did not get my pass it will not be thru untill tomorrow now it made me mad when it did not come and I feel groucy since.

I will go down to the recreation room in a little while and stroll around the grounds I don't like to ly down for I just go to sleep and then I do not sleep so good at night, we all have to go to bed at 8 and get up at six so the orderlies can make the bed but we can sleep all we like all day.

14th

Dear Mother my pass came thru, so to celebrate we road about 16 miles by bus and

walked a lot, had a dandy dinner, Ham, eggs mashed potatoes, bread,  butter, custard, raspberries, scone, glass of water and tea, so I surely called it a treat.

Then we came home, it is surely nice to be among your own people again, just wait untill I reach the land of the Maple Leaf again,

Well bye bye Mother dear as ever your loving son
Laurie
